Tip of the Season - Don't mow too low! As the weather turns warmer, lawns start becoming greener, and people break out the long-dormant lawn mowers. A common mistake people make with the first few mows of the spring is to "scalp" the grass - mowing it down too low. This will have negative effects for your lawn later in the season. Scalping the grass can be hurtful to grass roots just coming out of dormancy. Additionally, leaving your lawn thicker in the early season helps to choke down would-be weeds, giving your lawn some degree of protection for later in the season.
